The countdown is on! IMHX to open in one week

With just one week to go until the International Materials Handling Exhibition (IMHX) 2016 opens, RTITB is counting down the days until the doors open and the heats for the International Forklift Operator of the Year finally commence.

RTITB will be joined at the IMHX by 40 of the best operators in the world who will compete for the chance to be named champion. The live heats, which are sponsored by UniCarrier and McCue, will take place at the RTITB stand (9A40) from the 13th-16th September at the NEC, Birmingham.

During the heats, our skilled drivers will complete a series of assessments, sponsored by TruckLOG, Dolav, Racking & Storage Solutions, Transaid and Pyroban. Each assessment has been designed to test the operators’ skills and knowledge of safe forklift operation in front of industry specialists and professionals.

Our top 40 operators will be whittled down to just 10 as they battle it out for a place at the Grand Final, which will be held at the RTITB headquarters in Shropshire in early 2017.

This years’ competition is RTITB’s biggest and best, with a wider spectrum of operators taking part than ever before. Among the competitors are a number of forklift operators from well-known international companies, our youngest ever heat finalist at just 18, and an increased number of female operators. Also participating is a US-based driver, and the winner of the Indian Forklift Operator of the Year 2015.

Speaking on the competition, Laura Nelson, RTITB Managing Director, commented: “The International Forklift Operator of the Year award is about recognising the best of the best and showing supply chain professionals that skilled, safe, efficient forklift operators can make a huge difference to productivity and profitability within their company.”

She continued: “We’re excited to have a wide range of drivers of all ages and from all around the world competing in this year’s heats at IMHX. The forklift drivers will be taking part in a series of live challenges that we’ve specially designed to test their skills, knowledge and safe operation.”

The International Forklift Operator of the Year 2016 heats are guaranteed to have lots in store for both competitors and spectators, with tests including The Fun Factory,  Bicycle Bingo and Explosive Mixer, to name a few. Not only can delegates watch all the action from the heats, but they can also meet with the RTITB team to learn more about workplace transport training solutions to improve their own workplace efficiency and safety.
