Richard to speak at IMHX

Did you know that around one in ten accidents on motorways involve Heavy Goods Vehicles, yet  account for half of all deaths? With their unique characteristics of size, construction and weight the potential for HGVs to be involved in serious or fatal accidents remains significantly high, and illustrates the responsibility of drivers and haulage companies to be place safety as their number one priority.

So how can HGV drivers do their job more safely? At IMHX on Wednesday 15thSeptember at 10:00am visitors can hear Richard Brewer, Technical Sales Executive at RTITB, present The unpredictable human being: Driver behaviour, technology and vulnerable road users, where he will look at how drivers can improve their performance behind the wheel.

Richard’s talk will look at optical behaviour, a largely subconscious aspect of driving, and how by understanding driver optical behaviour adopting a holistic approach to improving road safety, drivers and operators alike can begin to mitigate the risks that all road users and pedestrians take every minute of every day.

Plus, Richard will consider how new technology such as cameras and sensors can play a useful role in reducing accidents involving HGVs on UK roads.

In his role as Technical Services Executive with RTITB, Richard audits, examines and instructs across the various arms of the business. Richard has over 30 years’ experience working in a variety of roles which include professional LGV driver, Warehouse Manager, Depot Training Co-ordinator for major 3PL’s and Supply Chain Skills Manager.

Richard’s presentation is part of RTITB’s major presence at IMHX for 2016, including the finals of the International Forklift Operator of the Year in Hall 9 Stand A40. For more information, visit or follow competition updates on Twitter @opofyear.For more information on RTITB, visit
