Machine Characteristics and Not Design to Determine Categories, Says ABA

At the most recent meeting for the Accrediting Bodies Association for Workplace Transport (ABA), there was much discussion over the categorisation of machines that have not been designed to meet MEWP regulations, but are utilised to complete tasks where a MEWP would typically be used.

The machines in question were the Crown Wave and other, similar machines, including the Spin-go and Sprint machines from vendor, Bravi Platforms. Although these machines are not designed to meet MEWP regulations, they are regularly operated to perform tasks including order picking and changing lightbulbs and can be driven elevated and boom vertically.

As a result of the machines operational characteristics and potential, the ABA has agreed that the grouping for these machines will be 3A. We hope that the explanation above clears up any queries members have relating to these machine types.
