New Counterbalance (forklift) and Reach Testing Coming Soon

News | 21st Nov 2016

On Thursday 17th November the Accrediting Bodies Association for Workplace Transport (ABA) held their most recent meeting, attended by Laura Nelson and Nick Welch on behalf RTITB. One of the key areas for discussion was the new operator testing arrangements for Counterbalance and Reach trucks.

Previously the ABA held a focus group to discuss the current testing arrangements with a wide range of stakeholders, including training organisations, trade associations, insurers, unions, lift truck manufacturers and employers. The focus group felt that the test needed updating and since that time, the ABA has been working to update the test. The ABA will be making an official announcement and will release the new test on Monday 30th January 2017.

RTITB will be releasing a new Counterbalance Trainer’s Guide in early February 2017, with a new Reach Truck Trainer’s Guide to follow in March. These guides will include the new testing arrangements and updated training content in line with the modern trucks used in today’s workplace. We will release more information to our accredited organisations on this as it becomes available.
