Tow Tractor Training

The Tow Tractor course, also referred to as a tow tug, will give you the skills needed to be a safe and efficient tow tractor driver. Tow tugs are used within a wide range of environments, including airports, manufacturing, distribution, power plants, mail sorting and waste. The course is largely practical in nature and there will be no more than 3 people on the course to ensure you have enough time on the truck. 

This course covers, but is not limited to, the following areas;

  • Controls and instruments
  • Starting/moving/stopping and steering
  • Pre-use inspection
  • Driving on/off ramps and inclines
  • Battery care and maintenance
  • Coupling and uncoupling
  • Reversing and manoeuvring

Course Durations (for 3 candidates) ABA codes H1, H2:

  • Novice: 7.5 hours
  • Existing: 6.75 hours
  • Refresher: 5.75 hours
  • Conversion: 6.75 hours
