LGV Fleet Instructor

This course is designed for candidates wishing to undertake the role of an in-house instructor. The course will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver LGV driver inductions, carry out driving assessments, deliver Driver CPC Periodic Training and remedial driver training.

Delivered by the UK’s best Instructors, who all come with real world transport and logistics experience, we provide the highest quality RTITB Instructor training courses.  Plus, to give you total peace of mind, all candidates must successfully complete an independent examination to qualify as an RTITB Instructor.

By the end of the course candidates will:

  •  Be able to plan, prepare, rehearse and deliver classroom training
  •  Be able to plan, prepare, rehearse and deliver remedial driver training
  •  Be able to conduct and provide written reports of driver assessments
  •  Be able to describe the role and responsibilities of an LGV Fleet Instructor

This course is suitable for candidates who: 

  •  Have held (or still hold) a valid category C or C+E entitlement for 3 years or more
  •  Have significant experience as professional LGV drivers
  •  Have the confidence to present to small and large groups of their peers
  •  Have strong knowledge of the Highway Code
  •  Have good communication skills

Overview

The LGV Fleet Instructor course concludes with an objective examination carried out by an RTITB examiner. All elements of the examination must be passed in order to successfully qualify as an LGV Fleet Instructor. Achieving an RTITB Instructor qualification is something to be truly proud of. Successful candidates are eligible to register on the RTITB Register of Professional Instructors.

2 candidates, 1 instructor, 1 vehicle: 5 days £2980 (including examination fees)

  • Types of Assessment and Route Planning
  • Conducting Assessments
  • Your driving standard
  • Role of the Instructor
  • In-class lesson planning
  • Prepare, rehearse and deliver demonstration drive with commentary
  • Vocabulary and phraseology including directions to drivers
  • Report writing

Examination:

In order to pass the LGV Fleet Instructor course you will be required to pass an examination consisting of five elements:

  1. Assessment of Associated Knowledge
  2. Practical Driving Assessment
  3. Demonstration Drive with Commentary Assessment
  4. Assessment of a Drivers Ability and Report Writing
  5. In-class Delivery Assessment
