Master Driver Registration Faq's

1. Why do we have to pre register Driver CPC training courses?
A. The Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) require RTITB to tell them, on request, when and where training is taking place. This is so JAUPT can arrange to monitor the training being delivered by Consortium members.

2. Why is the number of training delegates set at 12?
A. RTITB believes, following lengthy consultation with the road transport industry, that this is a manageable number for the delivery of quality, cost effective training.

3. Can we exceed the maximum number of training delegates at any time?
A. No. This number has been agreed with JAUPT. If a training course involves more than 12 delegates, the data cannot be uploaded to DSA and the hours would not count towards a driver’s Periodic Training.

4. Why is checking a driver’s identity so important?
A. Periodic Training courses are legal events. The training hours recorded on behalf of a driver count towards the total of 35 hours that a driver is required to undertake in order to gain a Driver Qualification Card (DQC) and continue to drive professionally. In this respect, undertaking Periodic Training is no different to taking any other element of the driving test.

5. What forms of identity are appropriate?
A. There are only two forms of identity acceptable; either a valid photocard licence together with paper counterpart or valid old style licence together with valid passport. Without either of these two forms of identity, a driver cannot participate in Driver CPC Periodic Training.

6. What if the photo element of a driver’s licence has expired?
A. The licence is invalid and the driver cannot participate in Driver CPC Periodic Training.
