RTITB has monitored the development and introduction of the Driver CPC Directive since the late 1990s. The Master Driver Assessment programme was introduced in 2000 and subsequent developments have resulted in the introduction of Master Driver for CPC. Those developments were showcased to the road transport industry in March 2008 and following very positive feedback and fine tuning, Master Driver for Driver CPC was again put before the critical eye of industry experts at Pre-launch Briefing sessions during the latter part of 2008 and throughout 2009.
The Master Driver CPC programme is flexible and effective and has been created using RTITB’s 40 years experience in the road transport training industry. The programme can be delivered internally, externally or both and covers the whole of the Driver CPC syllabus.

Master Driver Consortium
By joining RTITB’s Master Driver Consortium, transport operators and training organisations can deliver Master Driver CPC without having to register as an Approved Training Centre with the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) . This has a number of advantages, not least, the removal of the need to develop training materials since all training materials are provided as part of the Consortium membership arrangements. Drivers' training records and future needs are all accessible via the Master Driver Registration Scheme (MDRS) database, whilst receipts of training or certificates are issued by RTITB in conjunction with Consortium members.
