1. Do I have to be an RTITB accredited organisation now to join the Master Driver Consortium?
Relevant Links
No, any training organisation, employer or individual wishing to provide Driver CPC periodic training can join the RTITB Master Driver Consortium but if you are already accredited you will be eligible for a discount on the Consortium membership fee. 2. Do I have to be an RTITB Registered LGV Instructor to run Master Driver for CPC modules?
There are various qualifications which enable you to run modules from the Master Driver programme. As an RTITB registered LGV Instructor you would be eligible to run all of the Master Driver modules, however if you are not registered with RTITB there is a simple process to transfer to our registration scheme. 3. As a member of the Master Driver Consortium can I deliver the Master Driver programme on customer premises?
Yes, you simply need to ensure they have adequate facilities and insurance prior to course commencement.
4. Will RTITB be inspecting my facilities?
RTITB will be ensuring that you meet the requirements of Consortium membership as per your contract; this may be done by visiting your premises and observing training that is taking place or other methods of validation.
5. I need to do my Driver CPC periodic training, can I come to RTITB?
Yes, the RTITB Academy runs Driver CPC periodic training. You can find details and dates on the RTITB Academy page or alternatively search for your nearest RTITB Consortium member using the search function at the bottom of this web page.
6. I don’t want to do my Driver CPC, is there a way around it?
No, if you wish to drive professionally all LGV drivers must carry out Driver CPC periodic training and all new drivers wishing to drive professionally must complete all four of the licence acquisition test modules.
7. We may decide to provide our own training in-house. If we do, could we join the Consortium at a later date?
Yes, you can join the Consortium at any time
8. Do the Master Driver training materials cover the whole of the CPC syllabus?
Yes. Master Driver for CPC comprises five 7 hour core modules, each of which split into two 3.5 hour modules. This results in the availability of a matrix of 45 different courses, providing a high level of flexibility.
9. Can Master Driver courses be run without end of course assessments?
There is no requirement under the CPC Regulations for training to be assessed. However, all Master Driver courses must be run with assessments included. This does not mean that training data is only uploaded to the DSA if a trainee passes an assessment. All training data is uploaded to the DSA regardless of the outcome of assessments.
10. A Driver already licensed prior to September 2009 can continue to drive professionally on the basis of acquired rights but will they have to apply for a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence.
No. Drivers will automatically be sent a Driver Qualification Card when they complete their first 35 hours of periodic training.
