RTITB Limited is recognised throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), Health and Safety Executive Northern Ireland (HSENI) and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA)
We have over 40 years experience of setting training standards, accreditation and monitoring.
Accreditation is granted to those organisations meeting standard RTITB criteria for the following elements:-
- Training Courses
- Training Records
- Training Premises and facilities
- Qualification of instructors
- Assessment and certification procedures
Our qualified and experienced staff are dedicated to providing a totally independent and impartial service. Our offices in Telford, Shropshire are centrally located for easy access from all parts of the UK and Ireland. We also have regional executives located throughout the UK to ensure each region has a first point of contact.
The RTITB accreditation schemes are supported by legal requirements for training; the Health and Safety at Work Etc Act 1974 prescribes a legal duty to provide adequate training and instruction to all their employees. This is reinforced by the Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 which states that all persons using work equipment must be trained, including the methods of using equipment, any risks and precautions to be taken. Though accreditation schemes are not "mandatory, recognition by the HSE is intended to help set and maintain professional training standards and aid employers in selecting training organisations or lift-truck suppliers who offer a good standard of training" (ACOP L117).
Our accreditation schemes and standards are guided by the Approved Code of Practice for Rider-operated lift trucks: Operator training (ACOP L117). The code has special legal status. If you are prosecuted for breach of health and safety law, and it is proved that you did not follow the relevant provisions of the code, you will need to show that you have complied with the law in some other way or a court will find you at fault. RTITB Limited is listed in the ACOP L117 as a recognised accrediting body, competent to accredit and monitor organisations to train instructors and/or to train, test and certificate operators.
